MSCs (mesenchymal stem cells) are adult stem cells with proven anti-inflammatory and tissue-supporting effects. When placed into or near a damaged joint, MSCs release signals that lower inflammation, support cartilage, and help the body's own repair work. This is not cell replacement surgery. It is a biological support method that works with your body's own healing.
Joint and orthopedic care is one of the most established uses of MSC therapy. The research for joint care is stronger than for many other uses. The plans at Altiva are built around the uses with the strongest research backing.
Most patients who come to Altiva for joint treatment have tried standard options first. They may have had cortisone shots, gone through physical therapy, or been told surgery is next. MSC therapy is not a last resort. It is often chosen by patients who want a regenerative option before they commit to surgery.
50 million MSCs placed into one joint via ultrasound-guided injection. Used for a single area of concern (one knee, one hip, one shoulder, etc.).
50 million MSCs per joint at a lower per-joint rate when two or more areas are treated in the same session. Common for both-side cases (both knees, knee + hip, etc.).
Patients with joint pain, joint wear, or limited motion who have tried standard options and want a regenerative approach before surgery.
Lower joint inflammation, improve range of motion, slow cartilage breakdown, and delay or avoid surgery.
If you qualify, you get a plan outline, confirmed pricing, and a pre-arrival checklist. Most patients plan 5 to 7 days on-site. Simpler joint plans may take fewer days, confirmed after the evaluation.
Joint therapy at Altiva works for most major joints in the body. Common areas include:
Spine cases are handled separately. See the Spine page for those.
Review of your case, imaging, and medical history with the clinical team before treatment begins.
MSCs are placed into the joint space using ultrasound guidance for accurate placement.
On-site observation after the procedure. Activity and recovery guidance before you leave.
Set check-ins after you return home to track progress and answer questions.
Most patients plan for 5–7 days in Nuevo Vallarta. The exact length depends on the plan and whether support therapies are added. Focused single-joint treatments may take fewer days. Still, we suggest allowing time for review, treatment, and rest before you travel home. Full discharge guidelines are given before you leave.
Depending on your case, support therapies may be added after the evaluation. These can include peptides, anti-inflammatory nutrient drips, exosomes, or other add-on plans. Support therapies are priced on their own. They are never added to your plan unless they are right for your case.
